Summer Field School

On June 12, 2017, the Arch Street Project launched its summer field school facilitated by The College of New Jersey.  Twelve undergraduate students embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime experience under the guidance of Dr. Jared Beatrice, a bioanthropologist, and Dr. George Leader, an archaeologist.  During week one, students received a crash-course in osteology.  Week two was an introduction to archaeology.  Weeks 3-5, the students met at our off-campus research site to work on the material from the Arch St cemetery.  Every coffin has been unique and every skeleton has brought us surprises.  More on that in later posts!
